- The Deal
Check your email for a new promotion from Choice Privileges, that can get you Gold Elite status with just two stays at any Cambria hotel between now and February 28th. If you meet the requirements, you’ll have Gold Elite status until December 31, 2020.
- Worth it?
Elite status with Choice Privileges doesn’t get you much, and Gold Elite is the lowest tier, other than General Member, but if you have a couple stays lined up at Cambria Hotels, it’s definitely better than nothing. The only real benefit is the 10% points bonus on paid stays. Up until recently, Choice had an annoying date restriction on award bookings, that would not allow non-elites to book award stays more than 30 days in advance in the U.S. and Canada, and 60 days in advance for hotels in the rest of the world. Earlier this year Choice made award stays bookable for all members within 100 days, so there is little reason to go out of your way for status. With that said, I registered for the promotion, but will likely not stay twice.
- Stacks with Current Promotion
Choice is currently running its standard promotion – “Stay Twice, Earn a Free Night”, which will award you 8,000 points after two stays. The promotion ends November 9th, but chances are pretty good that there will be a similar promotion right behind it, so if you are planning to go for the Gold, make sure to register for this promotion as well, or wait to make your two stays when a new promotion is announced.
- Final Thoughts
I love Choice Privileges points! They can be a fantastic value outside of the U.S., especially where paid rates can be very high. We used Choice points for several 8,000 point nights during our road trip around Europe, including in Munich and Salzburg, and we were very happy with each hotel. Choice is not my favorite hotel program for its perks, but Choice points are one points currency that I find a lot of value in.
