The new All Access Tour at the Daytona International Speedway is just the ticket for a Saturday afternoon, whether you’re a NASCAR fan or not. Race fans and sports fans alike will enjoy the tram ride along the road course and pit road, with stops at the Sprint Fan Zone, Victory Lane, the Driver/Owner meeting room, and the press box in the Sprint Tower. The “World Center of Racing” becomes more personal as you are guided on a narrated tour in and around some of the most restricted areas of the historical racetrack. With only the apron remaining in the track repaving project, now is the time to get a close up look at the brand new surface and start/finish line. The 2011 Daytona 500 is just around the corner, so get all the inside dirt before you get ready to cheer on your favorite driver!! And before its gone, make sure you get a picture of the actual winning car from the 2010 race, Jamie McMurray’s Chevy Impala!!IMG_3314 - Copy IMG_3320 - Copy IMG_4828 - Copy IMG_4852 - Copy IMG_4855 - Copy IMG_4862 - Copy IMG_4863 - Copy IMG_4868 - Copy IMG_4882 - Copy IMG_4888 - Copy IMG_4889 - Copy IMG_4908 - Copy IMG_4909 - Copy IMG_4913 - Copy IMG_4916 - Copy IMG_4919 - Copy

Here is round 2 of photos from Biketoberfest 2010 in Daytona Beach!! Main St. beachside was the people watching spot, with custom bikes and cars, and more than a fair share of attention seeking crazies. Daytona International Speedway featured exhibits and booths from custom bike builders like Orange County Choppers and Eddie Trotta, and everything from restaurants and bars to custom garage remodelers. Saturday afternoon at the Speedway featured a bikini contest with girls from the other more famous local wing joint, Hooters!!  Click the photos to enlarge. The 18th annual Biketoberfest is in the books, as thousands enjoyed events all around Volusia County in some of the most beautiful weather of the year. From the endless parade of custom bikes and classic cars along Main St., to the Thunder Alley displays at world famous Daytona International Speedway, bikers and thrill seekers came out in force to enjoy all the festivities!! Among the Thursday activities was the annual Biketoberfest Bikini Contest at the Speedway Blvd. WingHouse, featuring some of the calendar girls from the multiple WingHouse locations, and hosted by radio personalities Daniel Dennis and Tom Vann, aka Drunky the Bear. Here is the first of two sets of pictures I’ll be posting. Feel free to leave a comment.

Daytona Beach is the theme for the next two weeks with some incredible events happening there. This past weekend was the spectacular Wings and Waves Air Show, organized by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. I’ll let the photos do the talking on this one, but I will say that when the F-16 Viper came over the top of the Hilton, just above the rooftop, it was chilling!! Hope you enjoy the pictures!!

There are plenty of hamburger and wing joints around Daytona, but none can match the atmosphere of Ker’s WingHouse . With the Speedway Blvd. location and the new spot, beachside in the Ocean Walk Shoppes, you’re never far from a WingHouse. With multiple flat screens showing all the big games, you won’t miss any of the action while you munch on the delicious appetizers, or one of the many new additions to the menu. They’re known for their awesome chicken wings, but all of the food is delicious. One of the best burgers around is the WingHouse Burger, which I had on my latest visit. Cooked to perfection, and with a side order of curly fries, if you have the burger, you’ll leave WingHouse feeling full and happy. Just a tip, try to keep your eyes on the tv’s and not all of the beautiful waitresses, if you can. Make Ker’s WingHouse a stop on your next visit to Daytona Beach, and you’ll be glad you did!!

If you’ve never been to Bike Week in Daytona Beach, you owe it to yourself to  experience the fun and excitement. Like attending the Daytona 500, even if you’re not a NASCAR fan, just to see what it’s all about. Biketoberfest, the abbreviated Fall version of Spring’s Bike Week, gives you the perfect opportunity to see what the buzz is about. Here are just a few of the reasons why:

  • People Watching – From the beautiful to the bizarre, and everything in between. Bring your camera because your friends won’t believe you without photos!! Main St. is the hub of the activity, so find a good spot, or just stroll up and down the street!!
  • Perfect Weather – Mid-October in Daytona Beach, and throughout Florida, is the ideal time for outdoor activity. While your friends in “Backhomesville” are getting their winter coats out of storage, you’ll be trying out that new bikini or pair of board shorts!!
  • Motorcycles – Some will think that this should be at the top of the list, after all the bikes are what this event is all about. It’s impossible to argue that case, but I’m making a case for the non-biker that may think that this event is not for them. By a wide majority, Harley Davidson is the brand of choice, but you will see all makes and models, as well as some of the most incredible custom bikes ever created, many of which never see the highway. They’re trailered to Daytona Beach from parts unknown, and showcased only as they drive up and down Main St. in the endless parade of bikes. Once again, Main St. is where you will be able to see and photograph some crazy bikes, but also at bike shows all around Daytona, including along the beach boardwalk, and at the Daytona Lagoon waterpark.

The bottom line is, if you don’t like seeing motorized hamburgers, the Budweiser Clydesdales, and some of the sweetest rides in the world, then stay home. But if you do, clean your camera, charge your batteries, and get to Daytona Beach next weekend!! IMG_0202 IMG_1251 IMG_1264 IMG_1349  IMG_5702 IMG_8078  IMG_8742  IMG_8790IMG_5344IMG_8466

Periodically I will be listing some upcoming dates for major Florida events that should be experienced. Here are a few of the major fall events coming up in the next couple of months. The weather should be perfect so make sure you check them out!!IMG_5961

Biketoberfest (Daytona Beach) Oct. 14-17, 2010

The abbreviated October version of spring’s massive Bike Week event. Biketoberfest runs 4 days and draws thousands of bikes and bikers, as well as fun seekers and people watchers. One of my favorite events of the year!!

Fantasy Fest (Key West) Oct. 22-31, 2010

This Halloween celebration draws as many as 100,000 partiers to Key West for parades, parties, body painting, costume contests and so much more. Held the last week in October, don’t miss the party!!

Fiesta in the Park (Orlando) Nov. 6-7, 2010

Beautiful Lake Eola Park in Downtown Orlando is the location for this festival featuring music, arts & crafts, and lots of great food. The famous landmark Lake Eola Fountain is back on after a lightning strike in August of 2009 knocked it out of commission.
