The NKF Pro Am Surf Festival wrapped up it’s 25th anniversary edition on Labor Day Monday, as thousands turned out at the Cocoa Beach Pier to catch the finals of the surfing competition and bikini contest, and to donate and help create awareness for the National Kidney Foundation. Small Monday waves made it challenging for the contestants, as they competed for the titles in several categories, on both sides of the Pier. If you missed this years festival you’ll want to make plans to attend next year, as this event has become a Labor Day tradition on the Brevard County Coast.IMG_0092 IMG_0117 IMG_0141 IMG_0144 IMG_5887 IMG_6373 IMG_6412 IMG_6418 IMG_6422 IMG_6435 IMG_6460 IMG_6496 IMG_6498 IMG_6513

The National Kidney Foundation Surf Festival kicked off it’s 25th year this morning at the Cocoa Beach Pier, with lots to see and do. Recent Atlantic hurricanes Earl and Fiona came and went too soon to contribute to the swell, as many of the surfing events got under way before a huge Labor Day weekend crowd. The waves and rip currents kicked up by the storms made it dangerous for swimmers, but the contestants in the surfing competitions were hoping for some oversized Atlantic surf. And while there was plenty of surfing action to keep beach goers occupied, there was also an array of food vendors and exhibitors on hand, along the beach, supporting the 25th edition of the largest charity surfing festival in the world.
